Donna Summer- 1979. this album is insane and revolutionary. she was getting in trouble for saying wild things at the time— but as yet to be discovered by the current zeitgeist as a romanticized throwback. no matter how dark the lyrics get on certain tracks, the music itself is incredibly upbeat, which is fascinating. (my unc ass take is that I don’t think this generation likes happy music and this is happy music.)
